Over the summer we heard that Bethenny Frankel had behaved extremely badly at a private Coldplay concert in the Hamptons. Bethenny wanted a closer and/or unobstructed view of the stage at a close, tightly packed show so she asked the women in front of her to move out of the way. When they refused, she threw her drink at them. Page Six reported the news and they even had a snotty insider quote from a source close to Bethenny defending her behavior. Now Page Six has a follow up. That incident allegedly cost Bethenny a potential job as a Siruis radio talk show host. The gig was hosted by Sirius and they were not pleased with a future employee behaving so badly, particularly at an event full of VIPs. They were about to offer Bethenny a job but when they realized what a liability she was it fell through.
SiriusXM axed Bethenny Frankel’s radio show, “B Real with Bethenny,” after she threw a diva fit at a VIP Coldplay concert in the Hamptons that was sponsored by the radio giant and chucked a drink on other guests.
“They were prepared to give Bethenny her own show, but they ripped up the contract after that night,” a source said. Frankel was one of the 150 important guests, which included Jay Z and Beyoncé, at Coldplay’s Aug. 7 gig at the intimate Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett. Despite the VIP crowd, she deemed herself the most important guest there and threw a sticky drink over three women who were blocking her view.
A witness told us: “Bethenny started poking and pushing them. Then, when they didn’t move, she went to the bar and got a mixed drink and threw it over them.”
A source close to Frankel told us at the time, “It was a crush ... and very hot. People were jockeying for a view. It looked like this woman, who vehemently refused to move, needed some cooling off ... so Bethenny tossed some water on her.”
We’re told one woman, whose white dress was drenched, left in disgust and later complained to Sirius bosses. Sources told Page Six another woman who was rudely splashed was Lisa Pevaroff-Cohn, the wife of Goldman bigwig Gary Cohn.
Frankel announced three days later, on Aug. 10, that her weekly show, which started in May on Andy Cohen’s channel, was taking a summer break and she’d be back in full force in September. Except she didn’t come back at all.
Is Bethenny just used to behaving badly as part of her RHONY persona or is she just an a-hole? Maybe it’s a little of both. She fought with producers on her talkshow and bad mouthed it when it got canceled so the Sirius people probably dodged a bullet by not hiring her. Sirius issued a statement to Page Six denying that this incident led them to not hire Bethenny and stating that “Bethenny is busy with Bravo and other projects, and we were unsure whether, in the long run, we could get enough of her time for a five-day-a-week show.” Also, I’m sure they questioned whether they wanted to actually work with her on anything considering that she regularly behaves like an entitled jerk.
Bethenny snapchatted herself this weekend baking cookies and not wearing makeup. She even posted a closeup photo of her makeup-free face which was… brave.
