Earlier this year composer Tokio Myers wowed the nation with his incredible piano skills while competing on the ITV talent show Britain’s Got Talent. Myers’ was crowned the champion and this year he will perform in front of the Royal Family at the Royal Variety Show.
After being named as the winner of BGT 2017, Tokio Myers was snapped up by show judge and producer Simon Cowell’s record label Syco and it has now been announced that he will be releasing his debut album this November.
The LP titled ‘Our Generation‘ will drop on the 17th of next month and will feature a mix of original, and cover compositions. Speaking about his debut release, Myers says: “With this album, I’ve really tried to bring classical and contemporary elements together. I’ve been hugely influenced by the 90s dance scene and particularly bands like Faithless, and Massive Attack. There was a magic to that era that I wanted to capture and bring up to date for our times. This is so much more than me just making an album. I want to make music where you are taken on a journey, given this incredible experience-in other words life”.
‘Our Generation’ has been produced by Tokio Myers, Craigie Dodds, and Guy Farley, and includes a number of stunning original compositions such as ‘Baltimore’ and ‘To Be Loved’, along with innovative re-workings of massive hits such as ‘Bloodstream’, and ‘Angel’.
The full ‘Our Generation’ tracklist is as follows:
