FORESTBURGH, NY (CelebrityAccess) — Kevin Meaney, a well-known veteran of the stand-up comedy circuit and late-night television, was found dead in his home in upstate New York. He was 60.
According to the Associated Press, Meaney's death was confirmed by his agent Tom Ingegno. The cause of death was not immediately known.
A native New Yorker, Meaney's career spanned more than 30 years, and included everything from HBO specials and special guest slots on “Saturday Night Live” and “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.”
Meaney also had a short-lived network sitcom "Uncle Buck" based on the hit John Candy movie of the same name, which ran on CBS from 1990 to 1991.
“Kevin Meaney was as funny as they get and the nicest man. He could make you lose your mind laughing. A very special person,” Judd Apatow tweeted after learning of Meaney's passing.
Meaney is survived by his ex-wife (he came out as gay in 2009) and his daughter. – Staff Writers
