Amy Wilcox is one of the many bright lights in the Country Music scene right now but her path to musical success has not always been a smooth one.

Back in 2014, the Nashville based artist finally thought her dreams were becoming a reality. She had spent honing her craft as a songwriter and performer and her ambitions were in her grasp; she was about to head out on her debut national tour. She had been opening for Nashville superstars like Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Kellie Pickler, and Brothers Osborne, while also commanding her own residency at Nashville mainstay, Third & Lindsley.

Wilcox was also a principle character on A&E’s reality show, Crazy Hearts, which gave the world its first glimpse into the life of the rising Country starlet. But just as Amy’s music was beginning to connect, life got in the way. Her engagement was called off, her future plans dissolved, and the turmoil brewing in Amy’s personal life crept into her craft.

The results have been nothing short of incredible. Her music now has major depth and is connecting with fans like never before. Her new EP ‘West’ is due for release soon and promises to be her most personal body of work to date.

Speaking about the record, Amy Wilcox says: “I am so excited to release, West. This new collection of songs is a result of taking a step back, looking at my life and my music, and making conscious decisions to find exactly who I wanted to be. The process of creating this EP was a journey of self-discovery. After hitting a very tough crossroads in my life, I feel like this music gave me the inspiration to find my true self and my true sound. There is a lot of hope in these songs; hope in second chances and hope in change and reinvention. It’s upbeat and energetic and I pray this music gives people the confidence to take control of their own destiny! I feel like there is a lot of fear in our world right now, and these songs are my way of saying that it’s never too late to make a change, to stop going through the motions, to put yourself out there, and go after being your best self”.

One of the first tastes of the EP comes in the form of new single ‘Fortune Teller’. Talking about the inspiration behind the song, Amy says: “Fortune Teller is a song wrote in tribute to real live Fortune Teller. My sister and I were sitting at lunch on a trip home to Washington DC. I was in a tough place at the time and we were gabbing all about it, as sisters do. We had heard about this famous “life-changing” Fortune Teller, so we jumped up and headed to get some “clarity”. When we got there, I walked through her door, she looked right at me and said “Don’t give up on your creative energy. The world needs to hear you. Trust that things will all work out”. She seemed so sure of those words and in that moment, it was the validation I needed to dig deep and push forward in music and in love. When I started writing for the EP, I knew I wanted to pay homage to the power of these Fortune Tellers when people truly need to believe. I shared this story with my producer, Cass Dillon, and the song came to life very quickly. I sometimes wonder if this EP would have been created if not for her inspiration that day!”.
